The bird was killed in its cage.....

 The little boy in the cell's name is Renji Darkwing, a bastard boy, born of the union of a pureblood and a Hun. And no  one know what he will trigger in the following years. Or rather in the following years . But surely this won't be good to see.

He looked like 17 years old when he first met her.  She was dragged in this cell by his not-beloved "uncle", Kyo Darkwing, the Hunters' King. He pushed her inside like she was simply an object. She was quite a poor thing, he first thought. Next, he looked better at her

She was  approximately 8 years old, and had long golden hair and sparkly green eyes. Full of tears, at this moment. She seemed to not understand what was happening to her. Well, nor did he.

He helped her to stand up, realizing how small she was. Wondering why his tormentors threw her here, in this dark place, when she was looking so lost and innocent. And he had my answer very quickly, when I smelt her scent.

She was becoming a Level E, well, she hadn't degenerate too much by now, but it will happen in the next weeks....And then, she will become dangerous, and the Hunters will have to remove her.

Then, why the Darkwings were planning to keep her until they kill her?

...Well, it didn't matter at this time.

He had now a  friend to speak to.  They didn't talk much at  the time, a few words, mostly when he began a conversation. After one week, at least he estimated a week passed since her  arrival, they did nothing but talking to each other. Well, they didn't have much to do besides that.

The vampire boy had to admit that Kagome -the little girl's name- was very intelligent for her age.  He learnt that her family was killed by a pureblood, -one of the Shirabuki clan , as the Darkwings said -  and she was the only one who survived to this bloodbath. No that she was traumatized by that. More exactly, she was even doing some black humour about it.

Again, that's not like they had something else to do.

  In fact, he was pretty sure she was keeping her feeling to herself. Very brave for a little girl. But he knew that she had a limited days to live. She also knew it.

But they tried to extend the deadline. Renji gave her a part of his daily dose of blood,  in addition to her own. She refused at the first time. But she couldn't resist. She was starving for  blood, not only to feed her, this was also to allow herself to live on. So, she drank his blood as well.

But their torturers noticed that. And on that  fateful day, Kagome died.

Despite the fact she wasn't fully  turned in a Level E, oh god no. In fact, she was feeling better and would have survived at least one more month.

No, Kyo Darkwing killed her for pleasure. Just in front of him. The evil man who was his uncle shot her at close range.

And the second she turned to dust and ashes, he went mad. 

(Note: The title is a reference to Kagome. This japanese name means "Bird encaged", hence the fact that the "bird" was killed)
